Govt sets up control room for migrant laborers, help will be given in this way

New Delhi: Migrant workers have once again resumed their move to their states after lockdowns in several states following the global epidemic coronavirus. In view of the problems faced by the labourers, the Ministry of Labour and Employment has set up 20 control rooms to address the grievances of migrant labourers. On the other hand, the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh has also written to PM Modi requesting him to take effective steps to protect the migrant labourers.

According to the Labour Ministry, 20 control rooms have been set up by the Ministry in view of the distress faced by migrant labourers. This time the number of officers in these control rooms has been kept higher than last year. All these control rooms will be operated across the country under the supervision of the Chief Labour Commissioner. These control rooms will coordinate with the State Governments to help solve the problems of migrant labourers. The ministry further said that the victims can lodge complaints in the control room through migrant labourers, emails, mobiles and WhatsApp.

The Ministry said that these control rooms will be run by labour enforcement officers, assistant labour commissioners, regional labour commissioners etc. All concerned authorities have been directed to provide all possible help to the affected workers. At the same time, all officers have been directed to assist in the matter of migrant labourers by adopting a humanitarian approach. Last year also, the Ministry had addressed the problems of lakhs of labourers through control rooms.
