New Delhi: Good news for Vaishno Devi devotees and tourists visiting Kashmir. The government plans to operate the luxury bus on the Transport for London (TLF) model on the Delhi-Katra Expressway for the first time in the country. This will enable passengers to get affordable, easy and comfortable public transport service.
While giving the information, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has informed that the tender for the four-lane Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Greenfield Expressway will open in the first week of December. The construction of the expressway will start from next year. 575 km long expressway will cost 35 thousand crores and it is targeted to be completed by 2023. He said that to improve the country's public transport service, it has been decided to adopt the Transport for London (TFL) model.
Under this, pilot projects have been started in some states. Katra will be able to reach Delhi in six hours. With the construction of Greenfield Expressway, the distance between Delhi-Katra will be completed in just six to seven hours. This journey will be completed soon by luxury buses. Currently, the journey from Delhi to Katra takes 8 to 10 hours.
