Some couples share their property after a divorce, but it appears that Elon Musk and Grimes are battling for space. “I'll be colonizing [one of Jupiter's moons] Europa independently from Elon for the lesbian space commune,” Grimes told Page Six via email. The humorous response appears to be a reference to Musk and SpaceX's USD 178 million NASA contract to help them reach Jupiter's ice-crusted moon, Europa, to discover if it is habitable. On the globe, there are 79 moons.

Musk and Grimes, meanwhile, were rumoured to be taking a break after three years together on Friday, but that they were still co-parenting their one-year-old son X A-Xii.  Earlier Musk stated, "We are semi-separated but still love each other, visit each other regularly, and are on excellent terms." “It's largely because my work at SpaceX and Tesla needs me to be based in Texas or travel internationally, whereas hers is based in Los Angeles. She's currently with me, and Baby X is in the room next door.”

Grimes, 33, who is now a judge on Fox's "Alter Ego" show, announced in March that she wanted to help Musk populate Mars. She said on Instagram from the Starbase launch site in Texas, "Ready to die with the red dirt of Mars beneath my feet." She's also stated that she plans to travel to the dusty planet when she's 50 years old and work "manual labour till death," adding, "but perhaps that can change."

Musk's SpaceX firm, on the other hand, is aiming to take humans to Mars by 2026.
