The jewellery designer company from Salem in Tamil Nadu was handed over the seized 6 kg gold and 240 kg silver jewellery in Berhampur of Odisha’s Ganjam district upon payment of Rs 24.11 lakh GST bill on Sunday. The Jewellery were seized on Saturday.
Addressing the media, GST Deputy Commissioner Deba Kalyan Behera said the Gosani Nuagaon police had intercepted a car with Tamil Nadu registration number on Saturday night and seized the gold and silver jewellery worth over Rs 4 crore. Police later detained three persons.
“Upon verification of the bill, it was found that the jewellery was transported without the waybill. Following information, the company paid the bill at 6 per cent after which the detainees were released with the jewellery and the vehicle,” Behera added.
