GANDHINAGAR: On Wednesday, the opposition MLAs were expelled from the House for the day amid a commotion in the Gujarat Assembly.

As the ruling party refused to address the concerns that were upsetting government employees, the opposition benches made a scene. As a result of their disruption of the meeting, Speaker Nimaben Acharya suspended them for the rest of the day.

Sukhram Rathwa, the leader of the opposition, urged that MLAs be permitted to bring up topics that concern the general populace, such as inflation, poor roads, and the push among public employees to bring back the previous pension plan.

When the Speaker refused, the Congress MLAs began opposing the administration and requesting a discussion about the strike by government workers.

Immediately after this, education minister Jitu Vaghani seconded Rajendra Trivedi's motion to suspend MLA Jignesh Mevani and other protesters who had rushed into action. The resolution was then approved by the House with the suspension of MLAs for the day.

The remaining MLAs organised a walkout in support of the Congress MLAs who were suspended.

An anti-government rally was held earlier in the day by a Congress MLA in front of the Assembly.

With the majority voice vote, Acharya suspended Mevani and fourteen other Congress MLAs.. They were evicted by marshals from the floor of the House.
