New Delhi:  In response to the bridge collapse in Morbi, Gujarat, on Sunday evening that resulted in more than 130 fatalities, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal cancelled all of his events, including the planned roadshow in Adampur, Haryana, for the approaching byelection in the assembly seat.

The two-day trip to Gujarat by the leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Kejriwal, came to an end on Sunday.
Kuldeep Bishnoi, a Congress MLA, vacated the Adampur Assembly seat after leaving the party to join the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP). AAP is looking to establish a presence in Haryana and is targeting the upcoming Panchayat and Zila Parishad elections as well as the by-election in Adampur.

We have some very depressing news from Gujarat. The bridge collapse in Morbi is said to have caused numerous individuals to plunge into the river. After the 230-meter-long suspension bridge in Morbi collapsed on Sunday, Kejriwal tweeted, "I beg to God for their life and health.

Harsh Sanghavi, the home minister for Gujarat, said on Monday morning that there had now been 132 fatalities due to the accident.

A high- power committee has been formed by the chief minister of Gujarat to look into the bridge collapse.

Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi informed the journalists present that "the death toll in the Morbi hanging bridge collapse event has increased to 132. While departing Ahmedabad yesterday, the Chief Minister formed a high-power committee. All of the officers, who were stationed in various places, were instructed to report to Morbi by 2 am. 

An investigation is being conducted. Under the direction of the Range IGP, an investigation has started today, said Sanghavi. Everyone stayed up late working. The Navy, National Disaster Relief Force(NDRF), Air Force and Army arrived at the spot right away. More than 200 people spent the entire night working on search and rescue efforts, according to Sanghavi.

Teams from the Army, Navy, Air Force, NDRF, and Fire Brigade searched all night for the victims who had fallen into the Macchu river after the bridge had collapsed, the official said. Teams from the Indian Army stationed in Morbi, Gujarat, conducted rescue and search efforts for accident survivors. Teams for search operations have been sent out by all three defence agencies. 

The officials from the Defense Ministry said three Indian Coast Guard teams that include divers, gear, boats, and other materials have been deployed in Morbi since last night.
