Ahmedabad: Cases of corona infection in Gujarat are steadily increasing. There are queues of corpses outside the crematoriums to perform the last rites. According to a report, 1.23 lakh death certificates have been issued in the state in the last 71 days, while the number of corona deaths is said to be only 4,218. After which the Gujarat government has been accused of not giving accurate figures of corona deaths.

Home Minister Pradeep Singh Jadeja is now defending the government after he was accused of hiding death figures. Pradeep Singh said that 'it is totally wrong to say that the Gujarat government is hiding the figures of corona deaths'. Explaining the questions raised against the government, CM Vijay Rupani had said in the past that the government is not hiding the figures but that deaths due to comorbid (serious illness) are not being included in the covid. If a person has a corona and suffers from serious diseases related to diabetes, heart or kidney, his death is not believed to be from corona.

Ahmedabad, Surat, Rajkot, Bhavnagar, Jamnagar are the districts from where the highest number of new cases of corona are coming up. There are queues outside the cremation grounds of these metropolitan cities to perform the last rites. Gujarati newspaper Divya Bhaskar has published a report that 1.23 lakh death certificates have been issued in the state in the last 71 days, while the number of covid deaths is said to be only 4,218.
