Gujarat has been facing severe monsoon rains, leading to flood-like situations in multiple cities across the state. The heavy rainfall has been particularly intense in Junagarh district, where cars have been washed away by overflowing rivers. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued various alerts for different districts in Gujarat until 24 July.

On July 21 and 22, IMD forecasts extremely heavy rainfall in several parts of Gujarat, with the intensity expected to reduce by 24 July and moderate rainfall anticipated on 25 July. Some areas in the state might receive up to 8 inches of rain, as warned by IMD Ahmedabad.

The weather department has issued a 'red alert' for Valsad, Bhavnagar, Devbhoomi Dwarka, Daman, and Dadra Nagar Haveli. An 'orange alert' has been issued for Ahmedabad, Anand, Bharuch, Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Amreli, Jamnagar, and Gir Somnath. And a 'yellow alert' has been issued for Surendranagar, Dahod, Junagadh, Rajkot, Botad, Vadodara, and Surat. The alerts will remain in effect until 24 July.

The state has experienced relentless heavy rainfall in the past few days, resulting in floods in low-lying regions of Saurashtra and Kutch. Rajkot has also faced severe waterlogging due to continuous and heavy rainfall.

Unfortunately, the heavy rains have already caused three fatalities, with two deaths reported in Surendranagar district and one in Rajkot district. However, rescue operations have been conducted successfully, leading to the rescue of around 300 people from the affected areas. Authorities are working tirelessly to address the calamitous situation brought about by the ongoing heavy rains and floods.
