Palghar: Amid the relentless rains in Maharashtra's Palghar, the district administration has issued instructions to 23 members of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) to be on high alert and prepared for dealing with torrential downpours. The Palghar District Magistrate Office informed that they have directed the NDRF team to be ready to respond promptly to any emergency.

In addition to the NDRF, all sub-divisional officers and tehsildars in the district have been advised to remain vigilant and stay at their headquarters, ensuring that they are readily available for any necessary actions. The Vasai Virar Municipal Corporation has also been notified to be prepared and provide any required assistance.

Coastal villages have been issued warnings due to the high tide, increasing the risk of potential incidents. The situation demands a comprehensive and swift response.

In a related incident, a landslide occurred in the Khalapur tehsil of Raigad district in Maharashtra, specifically at Irshalwadi village. Tragically, four people lost their lives, and there are concerns that others might be trapped under the debris. The NDRF teams are actively involved in rescue operations, working relentlessly to find survivors and provide aid.

The Raigad Police reported that, along with the fatalities, three individuals were injured during the landslide. Furthermore, one of the rescuers suffered a heart attack while trying to save lives.

NDRF's swift response has been commendable, with multiple teams deployed on-site for search and rescue. Two teams were initially dispatched, followed by two more from Mumbai to reinforce the rescue efforts.

In light of the ongoing heavy rainfall in various parts of the state, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has directed all district collectors to take precautionary measures to ensure the safety and well-being of residents.

The situation remains critical, but with the combined efforts of the NDRF, local authorities, and support from neighboring districts, the affected communities can be better equipped to face these challenging times.
