AHMEDABAD: Water level in the Sardar Sarovar Dam in Gujarat has increased. This is good news for a dry state like Gujarat. The water level of the dam has reached 135 meters. CM Vijay Rupani of Gujarat claimed that the existing water storage in the state is sufficient to meet the water requirement for drinking and irrigation for the next two years.

The water level has increased by one meter since August 28 and the current level is 135.02 meters, which is the highest since the height of the dam was increased to 138 meters after the installation of the gate in 2017. This is the first time the water level has reached 135 meters, Gujarat CM Rupani told reporters in Rajkot. The existing water in the dam is sufficient to meet people's water needs for drinking and irrigation for the next two years. We are getting the blessings of Narmada.

According to the control room of Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Limited, 2.42 lakh cusec water is coming from above in the dam and out of this, 2.16 lakh cusec water is being released leaving 10 gates out of total 30. Please tell that the Sardar Sarovar Dam was constructed to provide water to drought-affected parts of Gujarat and Maharashtra. There is also a lot of opposition in Madhya Pradesh for this dam. Social activist Medha Patkar is agitating about this.
