New Delhi: According to the report released on Wednesday by the Modi government's think tank NITI Aayog, Gujarat tops the country in the Commission's' Export Readiness Index 2020, while Maharashtra is second and Tamil Nadu is third. According to the report, eight of the top 10 places have been successful in making six out of the coastal states. This index shows how many facilities exist in the state to promote exports.

Among the land-locked states, Rajasthan has been the most spectacular, followed by Telangana and Haryana. Uttarakhand leads the ranking in the Himalayan states. It is followed by Tripura and Himachal Pradesh. According to the report, Delhi has performed the best in the union territories, followed by Goa and Chandigarh. The report states that Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand are two land-locked regions, which have taken several steps to boost exports. According to the report, other states facing social and economic challenges like Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand can also follow these policies to boost exports.

On the occasion of the launch of this report, Deputy Chairman of NITI Aayog, Rajiv Kumar said that exports are an integral part of self-sufficient India and the country will have to strive to increase export share in GDP and international trade. He has said, "We will try to double India's share in world trade in the coming years."
