T-Series founder Gulshan Kumar died on this day. On August 12, 1997, he was shot in front of Jiteshwar Mahadev Temple in Andheri. Due to which he died. It is said, 'Gulshan refused to succumb to the extortion demand of the underworld, due to which he was murdered.' Apart from this, it is also told that 'When Abu Salem asked Gulshan Kumar to give Rs 5 lakhs every month, Gulshan refused and said that by giving so much money, he will make a bhandara in Vaishno Devi.'
After the death of Gulshan Kumar, his son Bhushan Kumar has taken over the responsibility of T-series and even today T-series is on high. Few people know that Gulshan Kumar's father Chandrabhan Dua used to sell juice in Delhi's Daryaganj at one time. Gulshan Kumar also used to share his father's hand at the juice shop and from there a hope arose about his business. After that, when he was 23 years old, he took over a shop with the help of family and started selling records and audio cassettes. After that, he opened his company in Noida and soon after this he became a big name in the music industry.
He named his audio cassette business as 'Super Cassette Industries Ltd.', which is known today as T-Series. Gradually he joined the successful businessman of the music industry and after his success in audio cassettes, Gulshan Kumar made a move towards the film industry from where his career started. He was also very interested in religion and he started organizing Bhandare for the devotees who come to Vaishno Devi, which continues even today.
