According to Ukrainian authorities, 18,000 guns and ammo have been delivered to reservists in the Kyiv region alone since the Russian assault began early Thursday, reports by CNN.
In a joint statement, defence minister Oleksiy Reznikov and Valeriy Zaluzhniy, chief of staff for the Armed Forces, stated there were additional weaponry coming. "We will soon get additional support from our partners in the form of new weapons and other resources," they stated, the report adds.
President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine issued a general military mobilisation order on Thursday. A broad-based mobilisation, including in the capital, Kiev, and all of Ukraine's major cities, was ordered, said Ukrain President Zelensky, "in order to assure the state's defence, preserving combat and mobilisation readiness of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other armed units."
This included a ban on all male citizens from 18 to 60 years-age leaving the country, according to the State Border Guard Service, the report said. The mobilisation also instructed the " reservists for military service, conscription of conscripts, their delivery to military units and institutions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine" and other state security services.
