New Delhi: At least 40 people were killed and more than 200 injured in the riots in the capital. However, now the situation is gradually becoming normal. During this time, the spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar has reached Bhajanpura to take stock of the violence-affected areas. He told, "I am meeting the local people and listening to the experiences of the riot victims. People have given me many examples of communal harmony even in difficult times."
A large number of police personnel have been deployed in the dharna at Shaheen Bagh. The police, who came into action after the warning of the Hindu army about the demonstration at the picket site, have deployed the precautionary force. Joint Commissioner DC Srivastava said that the aim of the police is to maintain law and order and to prevent any untoward incident from happening. The capital has also imposed section 144 in the Shaheen Bagh area.
Delhi Police has registered more than 238 cases related to riots and violence so far, out of which 36 cases have been registered under the Arms Act. Till Saturday, 885 people have been detained or arrested in the case of riots. In addition to this, 13 cases have been filed against accounts that have posted riots on social media platforms. The police said that after the situation was normal, CCTV footage was now being scrutinized and the rioters were being identified in a systematic way. Some cases will be investigated by the local police, while many cases will be handed over to the Crime Branch team.
