Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) is showcasing its range of products at the ongoing Vibrant Gujarat Global Trade Show 2024, emphasizing India's self-reliance in defense manufacturing. As a state-owned defense manufacturer, HAL aims to highlight the capabilities of Indian industries on a global platform during this event.

CB Ananthakrishnan, CMD (Addl. Charge), HAL expressed confidence in displaying their indigenous products to the world at this event, emphasizing that HAL's participation signifies India's aerospace capabilities. He highlighted HAL's pride in presenting their products globally, particularly under the 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' initiative, showcasing items like the well-progressing Tejas aircraft.

Ananthakrishnan also noted the momentum building around Indian-designed and developed products, attributing it to Prime Minister Modi's push for self-reliance. He mentioned the global interest in HAL's Tejas aircraft, especially after the Prime Minister himself flew it recently.

He expressed his belief that India would achieve complete self-reliance in the aerospace and defense industry within the next five years.

The HAL stall at the trade show features attractions such as the Su-30 MKI aircraft, adapted domestically for the integration of indigenous air-to-ground BrahMos missiles. Additionally, HAL will display the Prachand Light Combat Helicopter (LCH), a Make-in-India product developed in collaboration with private players, showcasing its unique capabilities of landing and taking off at high altitudes with heavy weaponry, tailored for the Indian Armed Forces' needs.

HAL has earmarked over 100 critical items for indigenization, showcasing some of them at the show. The stall also features scale models of various aircraft, highlighting India's industrial strengths and opportunities for indigenous aerospace parts production.

Six manufacturing divisions of HAL are participating in the event, emphasizing the importance of indigenous defense manufacturing and exports. The central government has set a target of achieving Rs 175,000 crore worth of indigenous defense manufacturing, including Rs 35,000 crore from defense exports by 2024-25. Government policies and reforms have been instrumental in encouraging indigenous design, development, and manufacture of defense equipment, fostering self-reliance in the sector.
