Today is the birthday of Aruna Irani, a famous actress of 80-90s and who has made many songs memorable with her dance. She started her career as a child artist with the superhit film "Ganga Jamuna" (1961). Famous as a villain, this famous actress of Indian cinema was born on 18 August 1946 in Mumbai. Aruna Irani was not much successful as a heroine in films of the seventies and eighties, but as a co-heroine, she also competed with many big heroines. She appeared in Bollywood as a child artist, sometimes as a comedian. Sometimes she became a villain and sometimes a heroine. She was also successful as a character actress.

Aruna Irani, who has worked in more than 350 films, is gracing the small screen these days. She was also known for her glamor looks in films. The actress, who worked as a child artist in the 1961 film "Ganga Jamuna", did small roles in several films like "Jahanara", "Farz", "Upkar", then paired with the comedy King Mahmood and she worked with Mahmood in films like "Aulad", "Hamjoli", "Naya Jamana" which people liked very much. Aruna Irani attracted the audience with her performance as well as her dancing ability. Her husband Kuku Kohli is an established producer-director of Indian cinema.

In 1971 she acted in the film Caravan and after this she appeared in the films Bombay to Goa (1972), Garam Masala (1972), and Do Phool (1973) directed by Mahmood Ali. She also acted in films like Farz (1967), Bobby (1973), Fakira (1976), Sargam (1979), Rocky (1981). Aruna Irani received the Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award for the first time in the year 1984. At the beginning of the 90s, Aruna Irani also appeared in the roles of mother.

Aruna was again awarded the Filmfare Best Co-Actress Award after playing the challenging role of her mother in the film Beta (1992). She also acted in the Kannada remake of this film. Apart from Bollywood, she also made her presence felt on television and also appeared on the small screen after famous and successful streamers like Mehndi Tere Naam Ki, Des Mein Nikla Hoga Chand, Vaidehi etc. Aruna was also awarded the Filmfare Life Time Achievement Award.
