The Indian tech giant Google has appointed Sundar Pichai as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of its parent company Alphabet. The real name of Sundar Pichai Sundararajan. He was born on 10 June 1972 in Madurai (Tamil Nadu) but grew up in Chennai. His mother Lakshmi was a stenographer and father Raghunath Pichai an electrical engineer.

When he went to America for studies in 1995, he saved money due to financial constraints. He wanted to do a PhD. But he had to do a job. Sundar's first job was as a product manager in a company. Then worked as a consultant in another company. Pichai did his BTech from IIT Kharagpur in 1993. The same year, he received a scholarship to study at Stanford University. Pichai received a master's degree in engineering from there and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to joining Google in 2004, he worked at software company Applied Materials and management consulting firm McKenzie.

In April 2004 Sundar joined Google. Sundar Pichai's first project was to be delivered to Google at the Product Management and Innovation Branch. He was given the task of improving Google's search tool and bringing users of other browsers to Google. Meanwhile, Sundar suggested that Google should launch its browser.

Sundar had an important role in creating Google's Android operating system and Google Chrome launched in 2008. He came in the eyes of Larry Page, the founder of Google. He was made CEO of the company in 2015 after holding positions like Product Chief, Android operating system head at Google.

Technology is changing very fast and 'Google' has an important role in this change. In September this year, Google celebrated its 21st birthday. Google offers services in 100 languages of the world. Few people know that Google's name was BackRub. Within two years of its launch, it was allowed to search on Google search engine in many languages like French, German, Italian, Swedish and Spanish.

Google's parent company is the Alphabet. Alphabet's profits in the April-June quarter of 2019 have increased three times over the previous year i.e. 2018. Alphabet reported a profit of $ 9.9 billion, or Rs 68,000 crore, in the April-June quarter. The company's revenue has also increased. It has increased by 19 percent to $ 38.9 billion. The advertising revenue of the company has been $ 32.6 billion. Good growth has been registered in Google's cloud business.

Alphabet is a group of different companies. The company distinguishes Google from companies such as the Waymo (automated car) Verily (bioscience) Calico (biotech R&D) sidewalk lab (urban innovation) and Loon (internet availability in rural areas with balloon support).

Alphabet's stock gained one day in July 2019, after the quarterly results were announced. Alphabet has a market capitalization of $ 893.33 billion. In this context, Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google had said that the annual revenue of cloud business has reached eight billion dollars. Paid clicks on Google properties also increased by 28 percent on an annual basis.

Sundar Pichai studied up to 10th standard from CBSE recognized Jawahar Vidyalaya and 12th from Vana Vani School. Sundar received a silver medal in his batch. After IIT, Sundar did MS in Material Science from Stanford University, USA with the help of a scholarship. He then received an MBA degree from the Wharton School of Pennsylvania University.

Sundar has told in an interview that he did not even have his own computer before going to America. His family had to wait five years for a telephone connection. He told that when the phone rang in his house, it seemed as if it had become a community connection. Neighbours used to come to call their children. 

As a Google CEO, Pichai received $ 47 million, or about Rs 3,337 crore in the year 2018. According to Fox News, if Sundar Pichai works for 40 hours in a week, then his hourly salary is around $ 2,25,961, which is about Rs 1.60 crore.
