First-century in India 199 runs: Between July 2016 to March 2017, Rahul played 12 Test matches and scored 944 runs at an average of 55.52. He played his first Test century on Indian soil in Chennai and was left behind by just one run with a double century. He scored 199 runs against England in this match played in December 2016.

Dhoni was handed a Test cap: Rahul played his first Test match in Melbourne, Australia in December 2014. Rahul was handed the test cap by then captain MS Dhoni. Coincidentally, that match was also Dhoni's last Test. Rahul could not show anything special in the debut match and be dismissed after scoring 3 runs in the first innings and just 1 in the second innings.

Century in debut ODI and Test as an opener: Let us tell that Rahul has scored a century in both his first Test and debut ODI international match as an opener. After the Test debut in Australia, he played his second Test match as an opener and scored 110 runs. He made his innings debut in the ODI debut against Zimbabwe in 2016 and returned unbeaten after scoring 100 runs.
