Who does not know the famous actress of South films, Jamuna in today's time. She always remains in discussions due to something. Today, she is celebrating her birthday. Jamuna is an Indian actress, director and politician, who appeared mainly in Telugu films. She made her acting debut at the age of 16 in Dr. Garikapati Rajarao's film Puttillu (1953) and L.A. Achieved her success with V. Prasad's Misma. Her portfolio also includes Tamil films. She won two Filmfare Awards.

Jamuna was born in Hampi, Karnataka, to Nippani Srinivasan Rao, a Madhav Brahmin and businessman, and Kaushilyadevi, a Vaishya. She was then named Jan Bai. She grew up in Duggirala in Guntur district, Andhra Pradesh state, India. When Savitri completed acting training in Duggirala itself, she stayed in Jamuna's house. Later, Savitri invited Jamuna to act in films. She entered films as a heroine at the age of 14. The mother tongue of Jamuna is Kannada.

Jamuna was a stage performer in school. Her mother taught him vocal music and harmonium. Dr. Garipati Raja Rao saw her stage show Maa Bhoomi and offered her to act in her film Puttillu in 1952. She acted in 198 films in Telugu and other South Indian languages. She also acted in Hindi films, winning the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the original Telugu film (Moga Mansulu) (1964), reprising her role (1967). She established the Telugu Artists Association for the last 25 years and served the society through it.
