Kapil Dev, one of the all-time great all-rounders of world cricket turned 62 today. He was born on 6 January 1959 in Chandigarh. India won the first World Cup in 1983 at the Lord's ground under the captaincy of Kapil Dev.

The Indian team created history by defeating the number one and strongest team West Indies in a very exciting match at that time. This victory changed the picture of Indian cricket. Kapil Dev became known to every child of the country. He was known for tremendous fitness, he played 131 Test matches in his career but during this time due to tremendous fitness, not a single match was missed. He was never run out while batting in 184 Test innings.

There was an interesting incident with the great cricketer Kapil when he was travelling in the train, a beautiful girl passed on the train. Then Kapil said to a girl, 'Would you like to take a picture of this place, which we can show to our children. The girl's name was Romi. According to media reports, it took a while for Romi to understand that Kapil had proposed her for wedding, for which she had also agreed. Kapil made his proposal in front of Romi in his own style while travelling in the train. He had scored 5248 runs in 131 Tests with 434 wickets. Meanwhile, Kapil also scored 8 centuries and 27 half-centuries. He scored 373 runs in 225 ODIs with 253 wickets, including a century and 14 fifties.
