Karnataka's stylish batsman Robin Uthappa is celebrating his 35th birthday today. Born in Kodagu in Karnataka, on November 11, 1985, Robin is considered to be the best player in the shorter format. Apart from batting, he has proved himself as a wicketkeeper. In many IPL matches, he has been a wicketkeeper-batsman. Although Robin didn't get much chances in international batting, he has seen a lot of ups and downs in his personal life.

Uthappa's father Venu has been an international hockey referee. Despite coming from a hockey-related family, he chose cricket for his future. From a very young age, Uthappa started playing cricket. In the history of cricket, he had not played anything special, but in T20, he threw a ball that had written history. In his cricket career, Robin had bowled only one ball in T20 which made him immortal. The ball he bowled against Pakistan in his first T20 match was straight on the stumps and India won.

In 2002, Uthappa started playing Ranji cricket for Karnataka at the age of 17. Earlier, he had made a First-Class debut for Karnataka and scored 61 runs in his first innings. He has also been a part of the 2004 Under-19 World Cup squad. In his ODI debut, he scored 86 runs against England at Indore. This was the highest score for India in the debut match at that time. He broke the record of Brijesh Patel, who scored 82 against England at Leeds in 1974.
