It was also the first time that Sivakarthikeyan sang a song in a film and a promotional video of its production was released to make the film. He won positive reviews for his performance from critics with Sify "Sivakarthikeyan is considered as awesome as Bosapandi because he makes this yarn so believable on-screen with his body language, eyes, and dialogue delivery". Another reviewer called him a pleasure to watch and claimed that he played the script very well. The film has completed 100 days during its theatrical performance and is the biggest commercial box office success of Sivakarthikeyan so far. Sivakarthikeyan's entertaining performance in 2013 won him the 2013 Vijay Award for "Entertainer of the Year."
