New Delhi: The issue of responsibility for the post of president in Congress seems to be coming to an end once again in the name of Rahul Gandhi. Veteran party leader Harish Rawat has said that Rahul Gandhi will have to take over as party president. He said it is not just his insistence that Rahul Gandhi takes over as the party president, but he is saying that Rahul Gandhi will have to take over as president.

He said this is the voice of crores of workers and Rahul Gandhi will have to respect the sentiments of those workers. Replying to a media question, Harish Rawat said Rahul Gandhi wants to understand everything in time. Even if they want to understand something in this matter, they can definitely take time for it, but they have to take over as the president of the party at the right time. There is no alternative.

Harish Rawat's statement assumes importance in the context of some senior party leaders demanding elections for the post of party president. In order to maintain and strengthen democracy in the party, these leaders had termed the holding of elections for the post of President as crucial.
