Dehradun: Former Uttarakhand CM Harish Rawat has expressed apprehension that the state government may want to hand over the conduct of Yatras from Kumaon Divisional Development Corporation (KMVN) to private people. In this connection, he expressed concern by putting up a post on Facebook, that simply means that KMVN has to be shut down.

He has appealed to CM Pushkar Singh Dhami to reconsider the decision to hand over the yatra to individual hands. In the post, Harish Rawat wrote, "Very worrying news to read. The state government is going to hand over the journeys of Om Parvat, Kailash and that area to private people. It will be operated by the Kumaon Divisional Development Corporation and given to private people.''

This simply means the closure of Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam. Earlier Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam used to conduct the yatra of Kailash Mansarovar. I am using the word 'was' because I feel that the government does not intend to conduct the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra through Pithoragarh. Then what will remain with the Kumaon Mandal Development Corporation? There are one or two more tracking routes, give them from Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam to private hands and at the time these organizations need to be given more work. Wrote that there is no justification to snatch the work which they have been doing for years! The Chief Minister should reconsider this.
