New Delhi: Harmanpreet Kaur, the captain of India's women, may be in trouble after her outburst during the third and final ODI against Bangladesh women a few days ago.

When Harmanpreet lost her composure during and after the game, the International Cricket Council (ICC) imposed two levels of penalties, which included match bans and fines equal to 75% of the match fee.

The behavior displayed by the India captain during the game does not appear to have impressed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

After being dismissed, Harmanpreet smashed the stumps in rage over the on-field umpire's decision to rule her out leg before wicket.

Harmanpreet later voiced her displeasure with the poor umpiring standards, stating that the next time her team travels to Bangladesh, she will come prepared.

She then made fun of the Bangladeshi team during the series-ending photo by asking the captain of the opposing team, Nigar Sultana, to include the umpires as well. Sultana led her team back to the locker room after hearing this jab.

Roger Binny, the president of the BCCI, and VVS Laxman, the head of the National Cricket Academy (NCA), will meet with Harmapreet soon to discuss her behavior, BCCI secretary Jay Shah announced to the media on Thursday, July 27.

“We will have our President Roger Binny and VVS Laxman speak to her (regarding the outburst). The ICC has already banned her and the time to appeal against the decision has already passed,” Shah told reporters.

Many former Indian cricket players criticized Harmanpreet's actions. Madan Lal, a World Cup champion in 1983, described her behavior as "pathetic," adding that the BCCI's disciplinary committee ought to punish her harshly. She is not greater than the competition. She gave Indian cricket a very bad reputation, according to Lal's tweet.

Diana Edulji, a former captain of India's women's cricket team, described Harmanpreet's behavior as "deplorable." She went on to say that Harman's "ugly conduct" may have been brought on by her bad batting technique.

"It was deplorable to see Harmanpreet call the umpires to pose with the Bangladesh team, suggesting that they were part of the team and playing for them. I am aware that Harman is hot-tempered, and maybe her ugly conduct was because she wasn’t able to score runs. But she crossed the limit that day as she continued to protest during the presentation ceremony," Edulji wrote.
