Importance of Hartalika Teej (Hartalika Teej Importance)
This fast and this festival has special significance in Hinduism. This festival celebrated on Tritiya Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapada month is important among all the Teej. Of all the Teej, this Teej is in the top position. Kajri Teej comes just before the Hartalika Teej and just before it comes the Hariyali Teej, although Hartalika Teej has special importance in all of these. Observing fast of Hartalika Teej is also like Kajri and Hariyali Teej fast, and women are kept by virgin girls. Women and girls cannot take water during this fast.
During this time women make clay idols of Lord Ganesha, Mata Parvati and Lord Shiva and then they are duly worshiped. Finally the Aarti of Shiva family is done by listening or reading the story. It is mentioned in the scriptures that by this fast women get unbroken good fortune. This fast is considered to be one of the hardest fasts. If any woman or girl observes this fast, they should first chant the mantra "उमामहेश्वरसायुज्य सिद्धये हरितालिका व्रतमहं करिष्ये" after bathing in the morning and with this they should take a vow. No fast should be observed without resolution.
