Chandigarh: Gopal Kanda a well-known name in the politics of Sirsa. Kanda has been elected in the 2019 assembly elections and is talking about making a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government by giving support. However, the commotion has started since the announcement of support by Kanda. The disputed history of Kanda is the reason behind this uproar. There are many accusations against him in this, the main one being to provoke an air hostess named Geetika to commit suicide.

Kanda owned an airlines company. The name was Murali Dhar Lakh Ram or MDLR Company. The airlines had an air hostess named Geetika Sharma. On 5 August 2012, Geetika committed suicide. The police saw a suicide note which had Gopal Kanda's name written on it, which created a ruckus. Kanda was accused of provoking Airhostess Geetika to suicide. In her suicide note, Geetika had made many allegations against Kanda. Exploitation and misuse were the main reasons.
Only 6 months had passed since Geetika's death. Kanda was in jail, only then did Geetika's mother commit suicide. His Suicide note also had the names of Kanda and his companions. Then in March 2014, he got bail after about one and a half years. Then the Delhi High Court dropped him from the rape charge. However, he was tried in the Geetika suicide case which is still going on. Now evidence is being kept in the trial court. The case of the mother's suicide case is also under consideration in the court.
