New Delhi: The accused in the Hathras case has written a letter from the jail to the Superintendent of Police (SP). In this letter, the four accused have claimed that they are innocent. The main accused in the incident, Sandeep, has said that he had befriended the victim, which agitated her family. According to Sandeep, this whole matter is of honor killing.

In a letter sent to the Superintendent of Police, Sandeep said that "I was friends with the victim. I used to have phone conversations with her occasionally. My friends did not like this friendship. On the day of the incident, the victim had called me to the farm to meet her, when I reached there, her mother and brother were present with the victim". In his letter, accused Sandeep has claimed that "I went back to my house at the behest of the victim. Later, I got the news that the victim's mother and brother had beaten her, and she succumbed to her injuries". Sandeep said that "I never killed the victim nor did anything wrong with her".

Sandeep says that "We are innocent in this matter". According to Sandeep, "My relatives Ravi and Shamu were also implicated. Also, Lavkush's name has also been forcibly dragged into this matter. All four of us are innocent and demand a fair investigation into the whole matter". Hathras Jail Superintendent has confirmed the letter. However, so far no statement has been received from the SP on this matter.
