Uttar Pradesh: In a tragic road accident in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh, that claimed 12 lives and injured 16 others on Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today announced financial aid to the victims' families. Each family of the deceased will receive an ex-gratia payment of Rs 2 lakh, while those injured will be given Rs 50,000.
A devastating road accident in Hathras has resulted in 15 deaths and 11 injuries, as confirmed by Uttar Pradesh Police. The tragic incident, which occurred on September 6, involved a collision between a roadways bus and a tempo loader. At the time of the crash, the bus, which was carrying 30 passengers, was returning from a village ritual in the Hathras district.
Prime Minister Modi expressed his sorrow over the accident and extended his condolences to the grieving families. He also wished for the swift recovery of the injured. “The Hathras road accident is deeply distressing. My heartfelt condolences go out to the families who have lost their loved ones. I pray for their strength during this challenging time and hope for a speedy recovery for the injured. The local administration, under state government guidance, is providing all necessary support,” the Prime Minister said.
The incident occurred on National Highway 93 when a roadways bus collided with a van from behind. The van was carrying 15 passengers, including four women and several children, who were traveling from Hathras to Agra. The collision happened near Kanwarpur village, about 10 km from the district headquarters.
Hathras District Magistrate Ashish Kumar confirmed the accident, stating that 12 people died and 16 others were injured. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed district officials to assist with relief efforts and ensure proper medical care for the injured. “The loss of lives in this accident is deeply sorrowful. My thoughts are with the families of the deceased. I have instructed officials to provide appropriate medical treatment to the injured. May Lord Ram grant peace to the departed souls and a quick recovery to the survivors,” said Chief Minister Adityanath.
President Droupadi Murmu also expressed her condolences and hoped for the injured’s speedy recovery. “The news of the tragic road accident in Hathras is heart-wrenching. I extend my deepest sympathies to the bereaved families and pray for the swift recovery of those injured,” President Murmu stated.
Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi offered her condolences and urged the state government to provide adequate assistance to the affected families. “The news of this devastating accident in Hathras is profoundly saddening. I offer my heartfelt condolences to the families who have lost loved ones and pray for the injured’s recovery. I urge the state government to ensure immediate medical treatment and fair compensation for the victims’ families,” Priyanka Gandhi said.
