In a way to express the concern over the COVID-19 situation in India Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan, interacted with Chief Ministers, State Health Ministers and Principal Secretaries/ Additional Chief Secretaries of Maharashtra, Uttarakhand, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura Meghalaya and Goa on Wednesday. The minister did not fail to notice the large active caseload in Maharashtra, with a high fatality rate (2.6 per cent) which increases to 3.5 per cent in and around Mumbai. 

The Health Ministry informed, the active cases in Manipur are in sharp rise and the minister advised the states to focus on higher testing particularly in districts with higher positivity, mandatory testing of symptomatic negatives by RAT, focus on high-risk groups and vulnerable populations for SARI/ ILI surveillance. Ministry guidance came up in line with AIIMS director instruction. The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) warned of another wave pushed by the combination of COVID-19 and air pollution. Randeep Guleria, Director, AIIMS said that air pollution can help the virus survive longer. 

India's active COVID-19 caseload has fallen below five lakh mark for the first time over three months period. The country capital Delhi continues to report the highest daily cases, Kerala occupies the second position in case contribution  with over 6000 cases per day. The only two states with active cases over 50000 mark are Maharashtra and Kerala. Eight states have more than 20,000 cases.
