NEW DELHI: Leading digital healthcare company Practo has laid off 41 employees, as part of the company's ongoing performance management and planning process, as the funding winter continues.

The technical section including engineering was most severely impacted, particularly posts like product managers and software developers.

The company stated in a statement that continuing this rate of development requires upholding high standards for productivity and performance. "Hence, as part of our continuous performance management and planning process, we had to part ways with 41 employees in accordance with their employment contracts, a Practo spokeswoman said. Practo, however, made it clear that there is no connection between layoffs and the company's financial performance.

The company declared that "our revenue, margins, and profitability are at an all-time high. We have hired over 500 brilliant people in the last year, and we want to add another 500 'Practeons' to our team in the following 12 months, including backfill," the statement read.

More than USD 228 million has been raised for Practo thus far. The healthtech platform received USD 32 million in August 2020, lead by the Hong Kong-based AIA Group.

The company is present in over 20 countries, helping over 30 crore patients, by connecting them with more than one lakh verified doctor partners.
