THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As Kerala has been pounded by nonstop rain since Sunday, up to 10 people have died and a few more are missing. Heavy rains continued to hit Kerala throughout states on Tuesday even as the State administration adopted a slew of measures to minimise the damages and intensify relief work.

On August 2 (Tuesday)  morning, the body of a two-and-a-half-year-old child was seen around 200 metres away from the house in Kannur, where three more deaths have been reported.

Four districts in the state-- Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, and Kasargode -- have been placed on orange alert by the State Disaster Management Authority, while the other 10 places are on red alert. After Tuesday's heavy rain in the centre and northern districts, rain activity has now moved from the southern to the northern districts.
Educational institutions in several districts have been given a holiday on Tuesday.

The rule curve at every dam is continuously monitored, according to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, and the right decisions will be made by the relevant authorities at this time.

Control rooms are operational at all of the state's district headquarters, according to K.Rajan, the state's minister of revenue.  Meanwhile, 35 relief camps have been set up throughout the state, with the majority of them in the Idukki district's hills.
