One of the most prestigious film award National Film Awards 2022 were announced on Friday. Soorarai Pottru won three of the four biggest awards categories at the 68th National Film Awards--best feature film, best actor, and best actress.

The lead actor of Soorarai Pottru, Suriya took to Instagram and shared a heartfelt note. In his Instagram post the actor wrote,"The overwhelming reception for our film which was directly released on OTT during a pandemic, has made our eyes well up in joy. Our happiness is doubled at this National recognition for Soorarai Pottru, as it is a testimony of Sudha Kongra's many years of hard work and creative vision of Captain Gopinath's story."

The actor also congratulated the winners of the National Award from his film and added "My heartfelt congratulations to the National award winners of our film – Aparna Balamurni (Best actress), GVPrakash (background score\), Sudha Kongara and Shalini Usha Nair (best screenplay)."  The actor also thanked wife Jyoyika  who encouraged her for doing the film"should produce and act in Soorarai Pottru."

 Suriya also thanked his fans for their love calling them brother and sisters he added, " I share this joyous moment with all my brothers and sisters who are out there, who have shown me immense love and acceptance right through my career. My heartfelt thanks to you all my #anbaanafans. The National award gives me the motivation to work harder and walk my talk and give you all good films, now and always."

Soorarai Pottru was directed by Sudha Kongara, the Tamil film is partially inspired by the events of the life of Simplify Deccan founder GR Gopinath. It featured  Suriya as Maara, a former Air Force officer with a dream of starting a low-cost airline in India. The movie was praised by fans and critics and now the film bagged four national awards.
