Lata Mangeskar, this name needs no introduction, Lata Mangeskar is one of the best singers born in India. She has given various Iconic Songs in her life. Lata Mangeskar represents the word music in India. Lata Mangeshkar, also known as the 'Nightingale of India', was one of the most versatile singers in the Indian film industry. Lata was born on September 28, 1929, to classical singer and theatre artist Pandit Deenanath Mangeshkar and Shevanti in Indore, Madhya Pradesh.

Lata Mangeshkar lent her voice to over 5,000 songs in over a thousand Hindi and 36 regional films. She had an unprecedented impact on Indian film music. Since 1942, Lata pushed back the boundaries of music with her mind-boggling skills. On the one hand, Lata Mangeskar is also known as the Queen of music in India, Meanwhile on the other hand she remained unmarried all her life. Lata never opens up about why she did not get married but as per some reports, there are two reasons because of why she remained unmarried.

Lata had taken care of her siblings, Meena, Asha, Usha, and Hridayanath. From taking care of their education to helping them achieve a certain degree of stability in their respective careers, Lata never thought of stealing some time from her commitment to her siblings. Therefore she never got married.

According to some other reports, at that time the  President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Raj Singh Dungarpur, was a close friend of Lata's brother, Hridaynath Mangeshkar. The former cricketer had belonged to the royal family of Rajasthan and was the youngest son of late Maharawal Lakshman Singhji, the then ruler of Dungarpur.

Hridaynath Mangeshkar and Raj Singh Dungarpur were really good friends. Most of their meetings used to be at Hridaynath's house,. After a series of get-togethers between Raj Singh and Lata, the two had started feeling something for each other, and with time, they had fallen in love with each other

Lata Mangeshkar and Raj Singh Dungarpur were planning to get married, but when the latter informed his parents about the same, his father, Maharawal Lakshman Singhji, rejected their idea of getting married. As Lata wasn't from a royal family. Hence, Maharawal Lakshman couldn't let his son, Raj Singh, marry a common girl. Raj Singh accepted his father’s request but had vowed not to marry anyone in his whole life and had informed his parents about it. After which Lata also vowed to not marry anyone in her life.

Lata in an interview speaking about marriage said, "People ask why I never married. To that, I say that God gave me a job to do and I'm very satisfied with my work. Yes, like everyone else, I do have my moments of sorrow. But my sorrow is very temporary. What I cannot bear is to see other people suffering. I feel a sense of joy by helping such people."

Lata Mangeshkar received several awards and accolades during her eight-decade-long career. In 1974, she became the first Indian to perform at the Royal Albert Hall. She is the recipient of three National Film Awards, 15 Bengal Film Journalists' Association Awards, four Filmfare Best Female Playback Awards, two Filmfare Special Awards, Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award, and many more.
