One of the Indian leading automaker Hero MotoCorp, which is also a India's largest two-wheeler manufacturer, has now decided to invest in Ather Energy, an electric scooter startup in the nation. The firm has agreed to invest additional 420 crore in the electric car manufacturer situated in Hosur.

The investment will be done in a phased manner which will be in two parts, quoted by Hero MotoCorp. At the time of the announcement, Hero MotoCorp owned 34.8 percent of Ather Energy. It is expected to rise as a result of new investments. However, the actual stake will not be known until Ather's capital raising round is completed.

Do you know? Ather Energy is now one of India's leading electric two-wheeler manufacturers presently in the country. It sells 450X and 450 Plus electric scooters in the nation. It also intends to release additional products in the near future to compete with Ola Electric's S1 and S1 Pro.

"In keeping with our goal 'Be the Future of Mobility,' we are working on a number of emerging mobility solutions," Swadesh Srivastava, Head of Hero MotoCorp's Emerging Mobility Business Unit, stated.

We were one of the first investors in Ather Energy, and our relationship has grown over the years. We've been impressed with Ather Energy's expansion in recent years." Before entering the EV competition in India, Ather Energy enlisted the help of Hero MotoCorp as one of its initial investors. Hero MotoCorp has been supporting the electric vehicle company since 2016 and is now looking to collaborate with Ather Energy on charging infrastructure, technology, and sourcing.

In March 2022, Hero MotoCorp will reveal its first electric car. The vehicle is being developed at the company's R&D facilities in Jaipur and Munich – the Center of Innovation and Technology (CIT) and the Tech Center Germany (TGG), respectively – and will be manufactured at the company's production site in Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh.

Hero MotoCorp is also trying to establish the complete EV ecosystem – from goods to technology, sales, service, customer care, operations, and innovation – through its investments and relationships with external partners including Ather Energy and Gogoro Inc, according to the firm.
