HC seeks sport ministry's stand after plea claims Hockey India created posts in violation of sports code

The Memorandum of the National Sports Organization has been challenged in the Delhi High Court to create posts like Life Member, Life Chairman and Chief Executive Officer in Hockey India in violation of National Sports Code. On the petition filed by Aslam Sher Khan, a member of the Indian hockey team that won the gold medal in the 1975 World Cup, a bench of Chief Justice DN Patel and Justice Prateek Jalan appointed Narendra Dhruv Batra, Chief Executive Officer, as the Sports Ministry, Hockey India and Member Issuing notice to Illena Normain appointed to the post of, has sought an answer.

Also, the upcoming hearing on the petition will be held on September 28. Aslam has demanded the postponement of the memorandum for the post of Life Member, Life Chairman and Chief Executive Officer in Hockey India in violation of National Sports Code. In a petition filed through Advocate Gopal Sankaranarayan, Aslam said that the Sports Organization has created the above three posts in violation of the rules of the Code, its order and guidelines.

According to the s Sports Code, there is a provision to appoint seven members and three additional members. There is no provision for appointment of life member and president. He argued that the decision to create the post of a lifelong member in the Amateur Kabaddi Federation was also canceled by the Delhi High Court in the past. The same can now be changed.
