High Court ruled in favor of advocate for acid attack survivor Lakshmi Aggarwal, saying that the film Chhapaak cannot be performed without giving credit to advocate Aparna Bhatt. This should be changed by 15 January in digital copy and by 18 January in a physical copy. The film is inspired by the acid attack on Laxmi Aggarwal in which Deepika Padukone is in the lead role. The film has been directed by Meghna Gulzar. The same High Court has asked Meghna Gulzar and film production company Fox Star Studios to write a line of gratitude to advocate Bhatt at the beginning of the film. The order is to be effective by 15 and 18 January.

In addition, Justice Pratibha M. Singh has barred the film from being released on all electronic platforms including cable TV, DTH, and streaming service without giving credit to Aparna Bhatt. This order has been given by the High Court while hearing the petition of Fox Star Studios. The same film producer company challenged the lower court's decision of Thursday in favor of Bhatt. However, the High Court has made a partial change in the order of the lower court and exempted it from writing the line that Aparna Bhatt is still fighting a war against sexual and physical crimes against women.

High Court said that when many people who gave information have been thanked, not mentioning the name of the petitioner is like turning away from the promise. Although Yachty did not write the film's narrative or screenplay, he did provide very important information. Meghna Gulzar's lawyer before the court said that there was no written agreement between the lawyer and Meghna so mentioning the name of the lawyer in the film is not legally binding. The lower court had issued a unilateral order without hearing his side, which should be quashed.
