Bangalore: The Karnataka High Court will hear the Hijab issue again on Monday (14 February 2022). On Thursday (10 February 2022), a bench of Justice Krishna S Dixit and Justice JM Khaji, headed by Chief Justice of the High Court Ritu Raj Awasthi, heard the matter. During this, the Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court said that the bench will pass an order directing the opening of colleges, but till the matter is sub-judice, no student should insist on wearing religious dress.

The Chief Justice further said that, 'We will prevent everyone from adopting religious practices during the hearing.' Along with this, he also appealed to maintain peace and directed the media not to report the oral proceedings of the court, but to wait till the final order comes. Earlier on Wednesday (9 February 2022), a hearing on the Hijab issue was held in the Karnataka High Court. During this, Justice Krishna Dixit, the judge of the Karnataka HC, who was hearing the case, had decided to send the matter to a larger bench.

Justice Dixit had said, "The question of interim relief in this matter will also be considered by the larger bench." Let us inform that in view of this issue, the Government of Karnataka has implemented Section 133 of the Karnataka Education Act, 1983 in the state. For this reason, now uniform has been made mandatory in all schools and colleges. Under this, the prescribed uniform will be worn in government schools and colleges, but private schools can also choose a uniform of their own.
