The fast and furious nature of T20 cricket has the fans experiencing a wide-range of emotions. The buzz about IPL (Indian Premier League) has been immense all over the globe and every time audiences wait for the April month to arrive, as it starts in the first of week of April every year. The upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League is set to be an exciting affair. We look at 5 such close encounters which saw the chasing team come out on top.

5. Kings XI Punjab- 204/2 versus KKR- 2010

KKR posted a formidable total of 200 in their 20 overs. KXIP were helped by a good start but after the wicket of Bisla, Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara put on a batting masterclass as Jayawardene, who was the top-scorer with 110 from just 59 balls. Punjab successfully chasing down 201 target in 18.2 overs to register an 8 wicket win.

4. Kings XI Punjab- 206/4 versus CSK - 2014

After the wicket of McCullum, Smith followed by Raina and Dhoni ensured that CSK crosses the 200-run mark but only just as they set Kings XI Punjab a target of 206. Match-winning partnership between the two Australians (Maxwell 95 and Miller 54*). After Maxwell was bowled in the 16th over, Miller and Bailey took the responsibility of finishing the game by getting the final dozen runs in the 18th over itself, and registering a 6 wicket victory.

3. Chennai Super King’s- 208/5 versus RCB - 2012

Royal Challenger Bangalore (RCB) decided to make the most of the fresh wicket by electing to bat first. CSK bundled out the rest of the RCB team for just 19 runs and a target of 205 after 20 overs was set. Jadeja faced the last ball and fortunately edged it to the boundary which gave CSK an enthralling 5 wicket win.

2. Kings XI Punjab- 211/4 versus SRH- 2014

Kings XI Punjab got off to the worst possible start losing Sehwag in the second ball of the 2nd innings. After Saha got stumped in the 7th over, Maxwell the star batsman for KXIP came out to bat. Steady but significant contributions from Maxwell, Bailey and Miller left the bowlers helpless and Bailey eventually led his team to a satisfying run chase, hitting six in the 4th ball of the penultimate over and sealing a 6-wicket win for the visitors.

1. Rajasthan Royals- 217/7 versus DC-2008

The first edition of IPL witnessed the highest successful run chase ever which hasn’t been broken yet. The Deccan Chargers (DC) had to face defeat even after a compelling hundred by Symonds (117 off 53) which propelled their score to 211 after 20 overs. Warne took charge of getting the last 17 runs and hit 3 successful boundaries and took away the game from the Chargers as Rajasthan recorded the highest run chase ever in IPL history.
