Akshay Kumar's Selfie with Emraan Hashmi already hit the theatre screen.  The film is helmed by Raj Mehta. Akshay is leaving no stone unturned in promoting the film. However, even after that, his film opens with a very low amount. If selfie earning is not increasing in a couple of days then it will become Akshay’s sixth flop in a year. Since Sooryavanshi, every film of his has failed at the box office.

After Selfiee’s low opening, various people are slamming Akshay Kumar for giving back-to-back flop. Now Ekta Kapoor has came in Akshay Kumar support and called him the most reliable actor.  Ekta Kapoor took to social media and wrote, "Akshay Kumar is the most reliable, dependable actor to work with!!! Depressing tabloid culture of bringing someone down to highlight his lows is a hugeeeeee low in itself!!!" The television queen this statement come after trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the figures from multiplex chains on Saturday.

He took to social media and wrote, “#Selfiee at national chains… *Day 1* biz…#PVR: 64 lacs #INOX: 43 lacs #Cinepolis: 23 lacs Total: ₹ 1.30 cr Nett BOC. Shockingly low numbers." He also shared first day, national chains figures for other major releases of the year so far including Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan and Kartik Aaryan's Shehzada. “2023 releases… national chains only - *Day 1* biz… #Pathaan: ₹ 27.08 cr #Shehzada: ₹ 2.92 cr Nett BOC,” 

'Selfiee' is backed by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions. The film will also mark Prithviraj Sukumaran and Magic Frames' debut in Hindi cinema production. Selfiee' is a remake of the 2019 Malayalam comedy-drama 'Driving Licence'. The original Malayalam movie was directed by Lal Jr from a script by Sachy. Akshay and Emraan will also be seen having a dance-off on the recreated version of the song 'Main Khiladi Tu Anari'. The original number is from the 1994 film 'Main Khiladi Tu Anari' featuring Akshay alongside Saif Ali Khan.
