The Lotus Make-up India Fashion Week organized by the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) in association with the luxury partner DLF Emporio/The Chanakya has begun with designers showcasing their Spring Summer 21 lines carrying a strong social messages. Rajesh Pratap Singh’s high fashion film featured timeless handwoven ensembles supporting our craftsmen. On the other hand, Vaishali S’s digital showcase imbibed a zero-waste approach just like designer Anjana Bhargav’s prêt offering DHI. Nitin Bal Chauhan paying homage to Jallianwala Bagh martyrs with thought-provoking prints. The day ended with Namrata Joshipura’s high octane glam collection. Few highlights of day 1 are:
Nitin Bal Chauhan
The designer has Conceptuialized the Jalian Wala bagh Tragedy. The tragedy of shouting, running were drawn on the sketch is depicted on the shirts, Tees and Skirts, adding chains, cages as an accessory to give the complete feel of Jalian Wala Bagh.
The sharp cuts, subtle hues and sustainable ensembles of Anjana Bhargava collection focuses on zero wastage. Long, collared kurtas with slits, asymmetric tops, mandarin collar tops, jumpsuits with drawstrings, waist-cinched dresses with extended sleeves and bathroom slippers making it to the stylish were seen.
An amalgamation of Benaras and Mcleodganj was seen in this soul-searing outing. The collection emanated a relaxed, boho-gypsy vibe with free-flowing silhouettes such as chiffon maxis, ruched dresses; cold-shoulder sheer printed maxis, off-shoulder crochet tops paired with relaxed pants.

The visual film titled falling 2020 is thought provoking. The artists were seen wearing layered looks of colour blocked stripes, balmy pastel hues and whispering pristine whites seems like crafted in lush, silk satin fabrics came to life with his signature pin tucks. The oxygen cylinder dolls used as props were the metaphor for his craftsmen.
Vaishali S’s collection titled Rebirth, shows models wearing handwoven textiles in various dramatic shapes. From the soothing greens to sublime whites and romantic reds, her collection had all the solid colors effortlessly interplayed in contemporary silhouettes. The collection was an artistic effort to showcase the experience of rebirth.
