High-Security Measures in Guwahati Ahead of PM Modi's Arrival

Guwahati is all set to welcome Prime Minister Modi's visit on February 3-4, with stringent security arrangements in place. The Prime Minister is scheduled to lay the foundation stone for the development of infrastructure at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital. He will also inaugurate the foundation stone laying ceremony for a new medical college in Karimganj.

Assam Minister Ashok Singhal recently inspected the preparations at Veterinary College Field, Khanapara, in Guwahati.

Prime Minister Modi is expected to address a massive public rally and launch several projects amounting to Rs 11,599 crore at the Veterinary College Field in Khanapara, Guwahati, on Sunday.

Assam's Irrigation Minister Ashok Singhal expressed excitement about the Prime Minister's visit, anticipating a large turnout for the public meeting. He noted logistical challenges due to the overwhelming response from the people.

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to arrive in Guwahati on the evening of February 3. The enthusiasm is palpable, with lakhs expected to attend the public meeting. We are facing transportation constraints, indicating the scale of the event. I foresee a grand rally at Khanapara on the morning of February 4," Singhal remarked.

The Assam government announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would visit Assam on February 3-4 to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for various development projects worth over Rs 11,599 crore during the public event in Guwahati.

Enhancing amenities for pilgrims visiting religious sites has been a priority for the Prime Minister. As part of this initiative, the foundation stone will be laid for the Maa Kamakhya Divya Pariyojana, sanctioned under the PM-DevINE scheme, aimed at providing world-class facilities for visitors to the Kamakhya temple.

The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for numerous road upgrade projects worth over Rs 3400 crore, including 43 roads and 38 bridges, as part of the South Asia Subregional Economic Cooperation Corridor Connectivity project. Moreover, the Prime Minister will inaugurate two 4-laning projects, enhancing connectivity between Dolabari to Jamuguri and Biswanath Chariali to Gohpur, which will boost economic development in the region.

Recognizing the region's sporting potential, the Prime Minister will also initiate projects to enhance sports infrastructure, including an international-standard sports stadium in Chandrapur and the upgrade of Nehru Stadium to a FIFA-standard football stadium.
