Bangalore: The hijab controversy has come out again in Karnataka. Earlier, the dispute started from Udupi. Now there is an uproar in Mangaluru about it. A group of Muslim girl students of Mangaluru University College have given a memorandum wearing a hijab and asking for permission to enter the class. These girl students claim that the hijab is part of the uniform. There is also an allegation that some Muslim students are also coming to the class wearing hijabs. In protest, Hindu students have threatened to come to the college in saffron shawls and saffron scafs.

It is being told that even after the Karnataka high court's stay, the Muslim students are not willing to accept the court's order. Even after the ban, she is coming to Mangaluru University wearing a hijab. In protest, on Thursday (May 26, 2022), the student organisation ABVP staged a protest at the university campus. They alleged that even after the high court's verdict, Muslim students are coming to the college wearing hijab and the college administration is not taking objection to it. One of the protesting students said that 44 girl students come to college wearing hijab and some of them are also coming to classes wearing it. During the protest, Hindu students of Mangaluru University warned that if the court orders were not followed on the campus, they would also start coming to the college wearing saffron scarfs.

The university issued a notification on Thursday (May 26, 2022) evening reiterating that no religious veneers were allowed to be used on the campus. The Muslim students admitted that they were not allowed hijab by the college administration. But he had met from the vice-chancellor to the district collector on the matter.
