Viewers of the Venice Film Festival and political aficionados were treated on Wednesday night when Hillary Rodham Clinton, a former secretary of state of the United States and candidate for president in 2016, was sighted at the festival's opening night gala. On the opening night of the 2022 festival, Noah Baumbach's White Noise, starring Adam Driver and Greta Gerwig, was shown in its world debut, while Clinton strolled the Venice red carpet and attended the events.

But why was Clinton there, exactly? A Netflix link was rumoured to exist. The streaming service supported In Her Hands, the first documentary from Hillary and Chelsea Clinton's new production business HiddenLight Productions, and produced Noah Baumbach's most recent movie. The documentary, by Tamana Ayazi and Marcel Mettelsiefen (Watani: My Homeland), will have its international premiere on September 9 at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) and be released worldwide on Netflix and in some cinemas on November 16, the Hollywood reporter, reported

However, a Netflix official insisted that the firm was unrelated to Clinton's participation on the red carpet. "Hilary attended the festival's opening night as a guest. Not our doing, but of course, we are collaborating with her on In Her Hands, which will have its TIFF and Netflix premieres on November 16th.

Festival attendees could anticipate seeing Clinton a lot more frequently in the future. She and daughter/production partner Chelsea are scheduled to speak at the Toronto festival this year in favour of another HiddenLight project: the Apple TV+ docuseries Gutsy, in addition to the film's world debut at TIFF. The Clintons' event docuseries, which is based on their book The Book of Gutsy Women: Favorite Stories of Courage and Resilience, received a straight-to-series order from Apple. It features private interviews with female celebrities like Megan Thee Stallion, Gloria Steinem, Jane Goodall, Wanda Sykes, Amy Schumer, and Kate Hudson, among others, per The Hollywood Reporter.
