SHIMLA: Sukhvinder Sukhu, the chief minister of Himachal Pradesh, announced on Thursday that a white paper on the state of the state's economy would be brought during the ensuing Assembly session to aid the people in comprehending the reality of the "mindless spending" carried out by the previous BJP government.
Sukhu, highlighting the state's difficult financial situation, told the local media that his government is moving forward with a proactive strategy to strengthen the economy so that the needs of the populace may be met.
"The previous BJP administration failed to discharge an amount totaling Rs 11,000 crore that was owed to government employees in arrears, leaving the current administration with a debt of Rs 75,000 crore. Also, during the final six months of the previous administration, over 900 institutions were opened or upgraded, adding an additional Rs 5,000 crore in burden to the state exchequer "He said.
He advised Leader of the Opposition Jai Ram Thakur to introspect about the last 5 years of the BJP government before casting any allegations.
In order to ensure prompt settlement of workers' problems, the Chief Minister announced that regular monthly interactions between ministers and workers will take place in the party headquarters in Shimla.
He added that this would increase cooperation between the administration and workers and that it had been begun in consultation with state party president Pratibha Singh.
This action was started by the Chief Minister himself, who came to Rajiv Bhawan, met with numerous delegations, party members, and regular citizens who had travelled from all over the state, and listened to their complaints.
He asserted that every one of the ten commitments made in the government's election manifesto, Pratigya Patra, will be fully upheld. More than 1.36 lakh government workers would profit, he claimed, from the first cabinet meeting's reinstatement of the old pension plan.
Other promises, he stressed, would be carried out gradually. To ensure high-quality education, he declared that Rajiv Gandhi day boarding schools would be set up in each assembly district.
