Himachal official reviews preparations prior to PM Modi’s visit

SHIMLA: Himachal Pradesh Chief Secretary Ram Subhag Singh  met with officials on Tuesday to assess preparations for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's planned visit to the hill state on May 31.

Suresh Kashyap, the head of the Himachal Pradesh BJP, stated on Sunday (May 15) that Modi will visit Shimla on May 31 to commemorate the end of the federal government's eight-year term.

Meanwhile, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur has paid a visit to Shimla's famous Ridge Maidan. He evaluated and reviewed the Prime Minister's public rally preparations. The state government is attempting to turn the Shimla event into a "launch pad" for the 2018 Assembly elections.

Meanwhile, the state government has implemented various welfare schemes to meet the needs of the underprivileged, according to the Chief Secretary. He went on to say that the Prime Minister will have a virtual engagement with beneficiaries of 11 such initiatives during the May 31 programme.

In the virtual programme, 40 beneficiaries along with 773 districts of the country from Himachal Pradesh’s 12 districts, will also participate in the virtual session with Prime Minister.
