Shimla: The results of the Himachal Pradesh Panchayat elections will be announced on Friday. There are a total of 3615 panchayats in the state, but elections have been held for 3572 Panchayat Samiti members in three phases. In addition, candidates have been elected unopposed in the remaining seats. The counting of votes will be held for the election of Zilla Parishad and Panchayat Samiti Ward members.
Counting of votes for Zilla Parishad and Panchayat Samiti members have begun at 8 am at a total of 80 block headquarters in Himachal Pradesh. A box of fortunes of 1638 members of the Panchayat Samiti and 239 members of the Zilla Parishad will be opened. 1193 candidates were in the fray for 249 seats of Zila Parishad. 39 thousand 483 candidates are in the fray for the post of Panchayat member.
The fate of 16164 candidates for 3424 seats of the prime ministership is to be decided, while the fate of 18575 candidates will be decided for 3560 seats of the sub-head post. While 6729 candidates are contesting for 1692 posts of Panchayat Samiti. Many of the defeated leaders in the assembly elections are trying their luck in panchayat elections. Four faces are contesting the Zilla Parishad, while one face is destined to elect the deputy chief.
