Lucknow: City Magistrate Ashok Kumar Maurya in Farrukhabad, Uttar Pradesh, while addressing the Peace Committee meeting, gave a disputed statement on the festival of Holi. Explain that in this meeting, in view of Holi and Shab-e-Baaraat, discussions were being held about the arrangements to be made in the city. However, the magistrate, while talking about the arrangements, made objectionable statements for the Hindu festival of Holi. He said that Holi is a drug festival, so everyone should take care of their own children.

According to the information, Magistrate Ashok Maurya said in the meeting that Holi is a festival in which people are drunk and intoxicated. He said, "Holi is a festival of drugs, so the administration will have to keep a strict watch on any suspicious activities taking place in the city during the festival." Maurya further said, "If you get any information about the sale of alcohol or drugs anywhere, you should immediately inform the police."

After hearing this statement of the City Magistrate, Dr. Deepak Dwivedi, a lawyer sitting there went to Bifar. Dr. Deepak objected and asked Maurya to apologize. In response, Maurya said that this was not what he meant. After this, members of the Hindu Jagran Manch also protested against the City Magistrate. Magistrate effigies were burnt in Chowk Bazar area.
