Lahore: The demand for the construction of a new Hindu temple in Pakistan's capital Islamabad has intensified for quite some time now. Many Hindu organisations are gearing up for the same. Talking to media, members of the Pakistan Hindu Council said that the establishment of a crematorium and temple in the capital should not be politicised as it is the basic need of the Hindu community.

Speaking to media, Krishna Sharma, a civil society activist and member of the National Assembly of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Party (PTA) Lal Chand Malhi, said the Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) government had allotted land for cremation and temple in 2018, realizing the needs of Hindus.

Krishna Sharma further said that there were 3,000 Hindus living in Islamabad who have migrated to their home regions sindh, Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa due to severe law and order situation. He added that, "This is not a political or religious issue, but it is a social necessity for us." He added that "we are persuaded to hear the concerns of Muslim brothers or organizations who have objected to the construction of the temple in H-9."
