DHARAMSALA: The Dalai Lama, a spiritual figure from Tibet, has written to King Charles III to express his heartfelt greetings on the momentous occasion of his coronation.
"May your Majesty live long," Dalai Lama  wrote, "and the people of the United Kingdom  enjoy happiness and prosperity."

Having had the pleasure of being your friend for a number of years, I am confident that you will continue to fulfill this great responsibility with kindness and affection, dedicated to the service of others, His Holiness said,

"The international society is facing extremely difficult times right now. In the spirit of the oneness of humanity, I think we need to work together to solve issues like the wealth gap and safeguard the natural ecosystem of this planet in order to create a more compassionate, peaceful society.

The letter's closing line said, "I wish you every success in meeting the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead in fulfilling the hopes and aspirations of the British people and contributing to the creation of a more peaceful world, free of violent conflict."

King Charles became monarch of the United Kingdom and 14 other realms after the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, in September. He will take an oath to uphold the legislation and the Church of England during the ceremony when he will be anointed with holy Chrism oil and presented with items from the Crown Jewels. He will then be crowned by the Archbishop of Canterbury.
